The Philippine Music Scene
The Philippine music has greatly evolved for over many centuries. Back then, it was only the traditional folk music that was popular among many Filipino men and women. Nevertheless, through experimentation and exploration of the Filipino artists, music in the Philippines now includes many genres.
In the 1970s and the 1980s, the Original Filipino Music (OPM) was known the typical pop music existing at the period. In the present times, though, the definition of OPM has expanded and it now comprises of rock, reggae, and even hip hop music. Indeed, it can be observed that today, music in the Philippines has also been touched with the Western influence.
