Jessica Soho Reports
Chosen as one of the 100 Filipino Women of Distinction during the centennial celebration of the Philippines, journalist Jessica Soho is one media practitioner to reckon with. While her coverage of the hostage crisis in Cagayan Valley made her the first Filipino to win in the New York Film Festival, her documentaries on kidney trafficking and on a local death sport earned her the coveted George Foster Peabody Award back in 1999. Indeed, the recognitions go on and on.
Born on March 27, 1964, Jessica is currently a host, reporter and producer on local TV network, GMA. Of Chinese and Ilocano decent, she is at present the acting news director and vice president of GMA News. Among her current programs, “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho” has been recognised as the most development-oriented magazine program by the University of the Philippines Los Baños’ Isko’t Iska’s Broadcast Choice Awards. In the same awarding ceremony, she got two major awards: Best Public Affairs Program Host and Best Magazine Program Host.
